E-learnig course in VET

Updated: Oct 10, 2023

Based on the Suite, an e-learning distance training for VET practitioners was developed and tested. The goal of this Project Result is to transfer the methods developed within the Suite, to ensure a homogeneous knowledge level of understanding among practitioners.

1) NEEDS> VET practitioners need to be guided and trained in the implementation of the Suite as it proposes a new approach to educational practices. A training module will be designed for this purpose and then tested to ensure the knowledge generated by the Suite is correctly transferred within participating countries with practical cases & exercises, tutorials and material of reference to deepen skills. This will contribute to answer the outlined needs of rural and remote areas in the VET sector. These areas face, still today, low levels of education, disengagement, depopulation and marginalization of cultural diversity. According to recent studies, COVID-19 has rendered even more these inequalities that have affected access and participation to lifelong learning education(Source: Watts 2020). Also, for VET practitioners, the pandemic has meant a reduced or different kind of offer of support for learners, additional stress and anxiety as they quickly find they have to digitally up-skill themselves, and for some, the loss of their employment (Source: James, Thériault 2020). The training course, together with the Suite, will support VET providers’ enhanced competences and self-confidence in their daily work to better adapt to the world’s current transformations including digital ones.

2) INNOVATION> The foreseen course will be the first in its kind, leveraging on an innovative methodology developed in the previous Project Result. The course will include blended learning material on which the Radio ECCA system is based: a mix of formal and non-formal tools and techniques derive from a 56-year experience in providing VET education in rural and remote regions. A combination of classroom with e-learning, case-study based material, and audio recordings is foreseen to catch the attention and promote motivation of the learners. Moreover, it is worth highlighting that, based on the feedback received by people taking the course, the training course will be fine-tuned to be fully in line with their expectations and interests. This will support long- term adoption of the project result.
